Shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), is considered to be a non-invasive procedure that produces single acoustic intense pressure waves to microscopically create an inflammatory repsonse and induce regeneration within tissues of the body. Research out there suggests that Shockwave is a highly effective and non invasive treatment protocol for chronic conditions and tendinopathies15. One study revealed that16  Shockwave is equivalent if not better than having an arthroscope for calcific tendinitis of the shoulder, simply due it being non-invasive, having less complications and costing cheaper.

Shockwave has been proven to have an average success rate of 80% for chronic pain and tendon pathologies such as;

• Achilles tendinopathy15
• Lateral Epicondylitis15
• Plantar Fasciitis18 19
• Patellar tendinopathy (Jumper’s knee/Osgoodschlatters)18
• Trochanteric/Gluteal tendinopathy and associated bursitis19
• Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder1516
• Adhesive capsulitis (Frozen shoulder)17
• Chronic lower back pain19
